Better-timed pedestrian signals across the city
Resident asks for well-timed, consistent pedestrian signals, including audible chirps for blind pedestrians, so people stop jaywalking and disabled and older residents can cross more safely.

The resident's idea, as submitted
The idea
Traffic vs pedestrians. Lights are not timed in a way that makes sense so people j walk. Not an issue in DC/NY where more reliable. Create well-timed pedestrian light system that citizens will follow
Who it helps and why
Benefits disabled and olderly. All the lights should be on the same system and timing. Cherping of the lights for pedestrian crossing for the visually impaired/ blind to have greater safety and independence to cross the street. The way peiople run red lights however, the cherp may be a safety issue because even if the light says you can cross, people often run it if waiting too long.
