The idea

Overhaul the traffic signals at the intersection of Harvard Ave and Commonwealth Ave, with transit signal priority and safer pedestrians timing. It is so dangerous crossing here currently as a pedestrian, and Green Line trains get stuck for ages.

Who it helps and why

Right now this intersection feels like a highway interchange to pedestrians. You need to cross about 6 lanes of car traffic and two train tracks all in a single green light. In order to cross diagonally you need to run for your life or wait a full cycle for all of the cars to zoom through. Mopeds tend to zoom through reds, and cars will cut off the train, which has to wait just as long as pedestrians in order to move. Transit signal priority would greatly benefit transit riders, and a pedestrian light pattern closer to brookline's and Harvard/Beacon would make crossing so much safer.
