Cooling center, splash pad and pool at Jackson Mann

The idea

Allston needs a Community/Cooling Center at the Jackson Mann. We are the second largest neighborhood and we do not have a place to meet when a group is larger than 15 people. It would also be great to have a splash pad, pool, and trees to cool off.

Who it helps and why

Allston is one of the reddest neighborhoods on the heat island maps and we have few apartments with central air, no pool, few trees, and no cooling center. We were a red-lined neighborhood and have MassPike going through the middle of our neighborhood. We are diverse with many neighbors speaking Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian as their native language. Many people will stand outside of their apartments if they live on the third floor or higher during the summers because it is too hot in their apartments. Please cool off the neighborhood.
