The idea
BPS is still reeling from the effects of Covid when it comes to attendance and academic performance. We need an incentive program to celebrate BPS families (especially at struggling schools) whose children are attending school and earning high grades
Who it helps and why
Boston youth cannot be prepared for the future if they are not in school, and when our youth are successful, the whole city benefits. Providing economic incentives to families will bolster partnerships between the city, schools, and families and encourage students to attend school and to perform well. Focusing on high needs schools has the potential to raise test scores and create a more equitable playing field amongst all the BPS schools.
