The idea
Overhaul the entire streetscape around Sullivan Square station to make it pedestrian friendly and a viable neighborhood.
Who it helps and why
So many passengers take buses or the orange line or both here, but walking in and out of the station is dangerous regardless of the direction you're going. Commuters who don't have the luxury of breezing through on the surrounding highway have to endure these dangers everyday. A complete redesign that puts transit riders first could also be a step toward making the area a proper "square" as the name suggests, with businesses and housing that benefit from the transit connections. Right now so much of this area is dedicated to parking and wide roads instead.
