Who it helps and why

Our EBCSK project advances social and racial equity by ensuring that everyone regardless of their race, ethnicity, income, housing status, language, or life circumstances has access to essential resources and opportunities to thrive. People experiencing homelessness and food insecurity are disproportionately people of color, immigrants, older adults, veterans, individuals living with disabilities, and those facing mental health or substance use challenges. Many have experienced systemic barriers that limit access to housing, healthcare, employment, education, and other critical services. Our EBCSK organization works to remove those barriers by providing compassionate, low-barrier services in a welcoming and respectful environment where every person is treated with dignity. A permanent space for us would significantly expand our ability to advance equity. It would provide a safe, trusted space where individuals can receive nutritious meals, groceries, hygiene supplies, and connections to housing, healthcare, behavioral health services, recovery programs, employment assistance, and other essential supports. By partnering with local service providers, we will help ensure that people who have historically been underserved can access the resources they need to improve their quality of life. Our approach is rooted in inclusion and cultural responsiveness. We welcome everyone without discrimination and strive to meet people where they are, recognizing that each person's journey is different. We work to build trust, reduce stigma, and empower individuals to move toward stability and self-sufficiency. By investing in a permanent home for our EBCSK organization, this project will create lasting, equitable access to services in a community that currently lacks a centralized resource for people experiencing homelessness. It will strengthen the local safety net, reduce disparities in access to care and basic needs, and help ensure that every individual regardless of their background has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and the support needed to build a better future.
