The idea

A pro-LGBT center & club. Perhaps offers sandwiches, coffee, and tea during the day, a dance hall/area for drag shows and dancing equipped with a disco ball. Similar to Club Café but for the TRUE queer community day & night.

Who it helps and why

Considering Mamdani visited Brooklyn's LGBT space at Papi Juice one night, Allston-Brighton is one of the last standalone spots of old-time culture. With the landmark of Blanchard's from the 50s with their neon sign going out of business this year, and the younger generation drinking less, there needs to be community. Otherwise the community goes to the Model or Silhouette, which I love but are run down a bit and "skeezy" being stuck in its 80s hipster vibe. The gays need their own protected, welcoming space. Especially now with so much hate, fear, and denigrading politics these days. Something so simple can mean so much and even save lives.
