construction of a food forest and community garden in the lot at Glines & School Street
Who it helps and why
The addition of raised plant beds, shady space, and a healthy space to wander would secure for Eglestonians the much needed access to green space. It is critical to preserve and protect green space for the people who live here. While development contracts are increasingly obligated to provide affordable housing, designated parking, and other essential quality of life amenities, few (if any) are obliged to provide meaningful access to green and/or garden space. The Hernandez School is a perfect fit for sustaining year-round use and maintenance that is an asset to all in the greater community.
