Accessible Harvard Bridge–Esplanade connection with bike lane link
Resident asks to adapt the Harvard Bridge and Esplanade connection to be wheelchair accessible and link directly to bike lanes, since few footbridges to the Esplanade are ADA compliant.

The idea
Adapt the connection point between the Harvard Bridge and the Esplanade to allow two things: 1) ADA compliant wheelchair accessibility and 2) seamless bike lane connectivity between the park and bridge (currently requires backtracking to access lane)
Who it helps and why
Currently, only 1 footbridge to the Esplanade is ADA compliant (Appleton, near Longfellow). This severely restricts park access. Fixing this connection point would allow safer commuting for cyclists coming from points West and North, while increasing park and path access for those who live beyond Back Bay and Beacon Hill.
