Who it helps and why

Black and Brown women, and mixed-race women in particular, are most at risk for stalking. Senator Miranda advocated for a bill to investigate the unsolved cases of missing brown woman and girls. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Molly Bish case, and there still aren't resources for protecting victims of this heinous crime. In fact, recent federal cuts are slashing the few positions at BPD earmarked to serving DV calls. Boston has to be better and safer for the most vulnerable communities. There should be an education campaign on how to spot the signs of stalking, funds for housing victims of stalking, resources to teach victims how to educate employers about their situation, and even funds for private security services. Women should be educated on identifying the signs, and there should be a specific team of people at BPD, specifically prepared to answer these calls, and to enforce no contact orders. There should be job placement services, shelter, and free talk therapy for victims and families.
