The idea
My idea is to renovate or rebuild the Veteran Center at Harvard St. Neighborhood Health Ctr @ 895 Blue Hill Ave. Dorchester. The delipidated bldg is a lifeline for our Veterans & Behavioral Health patients. They deserve better; a dignified facility.
Who it helps and why
The project would definitely promote & advance social & racial equity. Renovating or building a new HSNHC Veteran Outreach Center would provide a state-of-the art & environmentally healthy facility worthy for our veterans, behavioral health patients, food pantry recipients, infectious disease clients and the community to receive much needed health & social services. The building is located in the heart of the inner city and services a culturally and ethnically diverse community of primarily black & brown veterans, patients and community members & families. The building, internally & externally, is outdated & is severely delipidated & needs urgent & immediate attention, repairs & TLC. The Veteran Center building has become a lifeline for Veterans, Behavioral Health patients & families facing food insecurity. In my opinion, they deserve a healthier, safer & more dignified facility.
