The resident's idea, as submitted

The idea

Early literacy programming for all children 5 and under is key to strengthening kindergarten readiness. Programming should be used that reaches 75% or more children not just a few.

Who it helps and why

Kindergarten readiness and early learning is so much connected to where you grow up and what resources are provided to you. In order to address the education gap that impacts communities of color, we need services that start at birth and prepare children of color for school. This initiative would do just that by making sure that most, if not all, children get access and not just some.
